Earth Stewardship
today begins when we embrace the regulation of each of ourselves through
learning to subsist, sustain and develop as responsible constituents
of the larger mosaic of the living earth and universe in our ways of
life, our families, work and play, with our neighbors and as members
of the greater sentient community. This responsibility comes coupled
with our sentience and is the price we must pay for our being, for our
experience in the shared rewards in existence, the opportunities for
health and joy, to have hopes and to reach for our dreams. Sentience
is not an excuse for arrogance just as earth stewardship is not a mark
of rule, ownership or domination. Sentience gives us an ability to learn,
and Earth Stewardship provides us the opportunity to humbly put that
learning to good and necessary use for now and into the future through
life until the end of time, if such there shall ever be.
